New Florida Athlete Commit is a Fly Route Machine

Florida Gators Recruiting Update

Florida has been a school that has been noticeably absent in the list of 2021 commits recently. That changed on Sunday when the Gators picked up their 14th pledge of the cycle. Charles Montgomery is a 4-star athlete out of Seffner (Fla.) Armwood High School.

Florida secured his commitment over Maryland, with a number of other Power Five programs in and around the hunt.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder is the No. 241 player in the country per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is the No. 11 athlete in the class and the No. 35 player in the state of Florida. Montgomery is another of those athletes that spend their time at both running back and wide receiver in high school. He is a versatile player with skills that will allow him to adapt to the college game no matter what his primary position ends up being. Don’t be at all surprised to see Montgomery used for that athletic ability by lining up all over the field for specially designed plays as a freshman or sophomore.

This video shows what Montgomery is capable of and why fans in Tallahassee should be excited about his commitment. Montgomery has separation speed when he gets behind a defense and his explosive ability to make plays is showcased here at a number of positions. He sees lanes quickly as a running back, which allows him to harness that speed and have a chance of scoring on any play. As a receiver, Montgomery is a fly route machine, but he is also willing to take the ball over the middle and make difficult catches in traffic.

He is also going to be a special teams beast for the Gators, both as a return guy and a gunner who is able to get down the field quickly to help with the field position battle.
