Tennessee-Vanderbilt Prediction
What a time to be alive: The Tennessee Volunteers are the No. 1 team in the country, and their first game with a big, fat “(1)” next to their name in a box score is in Memorial Gym, where Vanderbilt will go all-in to pull the huge upset in a rivalry game. The problem for Vanderbilt is that it simply isn’t as good as the Alabama team which was able to nearly upend the Vols in Thompson-Boling Arena over the weekend. VU was hammered by Mississippi State at home this past Saturday. That could lead many observers to think that Tennessee will win this game by 25. Rivalry-game forces will probably prevent that blowout from happening, but the gap in talent is still too great to think VU can win this game outright. No blowout here, but not a nail-biter, either. Tennessee 79, Vanderbilt 71. (Matt Zemek)
