Auburn-Kentucky Prediction
At this point in the SEC season, these are the two foremost contenders to Tennessee. Yes, LSU and South Carolina are both unbeaten in the SEC, but neither team has played Kentucky or Auburn. The Wildcats and Tigers have done more to warrant consideration as the second- and third-best teams in the SEC than LSU and the Gamecocks. Now, UK and AU will see which team deserves to be seen as the best of the 13 non-Volunteer teams in the SEC. Kentucky got a good game from Nick Richards against Georgia. Kentucky’s frontcourt has to be able to outplay Auburn’s inconsistent frontcourt, because if it can’t, Auburn’s guards are just as quick as Kentucky’s, only with more experience. Since Auburn is hosting this game, the Tigers would love to merely draw even in the paint. They will ride with their backcourt every time. Auburn gets the nod: Auburn 80, Kentucky 72. (Matt Zemek)
