Kansas-Kentucky Prediction
Here we go again: It is the staple and centerpiece of the Big 12-SEC Challenge every January, the meeting between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kentucky Wildcats. Bill Self and John Calipari coached against each other in two national championship games. They meet once again this Saturday. Kentucky is the ascendant team here, having won at Auburn before slamming Mississippi State. The Wildcats are ripening into the team Calipari hoped they would become. Kansas, on the other hand, is without big man Udoka Azubuike, who is out for the season. Kentucky has struggled against long frontcourts, so Kansas – without Azuibuike – is not in a good position to take advantage of Big Blue’s limitations. This Kansas team looks weaker than some of Self’s other Big 12 championship teams. This KU team might not get a No. 1 seed. In Rupp Arena, this is UK’s game to lose. Kentucky 74, Kansas 69.
