Challenges for Missouri
You probably want to know a little about Wyoming before we discuss challenges for Missouri. Wyoming finished the 2018 season with a 6-6 record. The Cowboys did not get a bowl bid. The Pokes have 6 players back on both offense and defense. They return their two top passers and 3 of 5 starting offensive linemen. They lost their top rusher and 2 top receivers. Wyoming’s top tackler, LB Logan Wilson is back. In 2018 he had 103 tackles including 9 for losses.
The immediate concern Missouri at Wyoming is the elevation difference. Laramie is a high 7,165 feet and Columbia sits at about 700 feet. Here’s what Medicalxpress.com says about altitude:
At high altitudes, oxygen molecules are further apart because there is less pressure to “push” them together. This effectively means there are fewer oxygen molecules in the same volume of air as we inhale. In scientific studies, this is often referred to as “hypoxia”.
Missouri’s biggest challenge in this game is not Wyoming but the altitude change.
Saturday‘s game kicks off at 6:30 PM CT (7:30 PM ET). Watch on the CBS Sports network.
