Re: UT vs Vandy2
WOW our D is absolutely terrible. Young doesn't tag the guy, our catcher doesn't cover home. Another run. This is absolutely little league status

Re: UT vs Vandy2
I don’t see how they overturned that out call. The replay sure looked like the ball hit the line on the outside and the call on the field was out of bounds. Meanwhile, after the crappy call gives UT an advantage, VU continued to give up errors. Don’t understand how/why this team has been so rattled this series. Beating themselves.

Re: UT vs Vandy2
We miss CJ. Kid was a great catcher and we have 2 people catching and neither one is average in the field
Re: UT vs Vandy2
If the ball hits the line, it's fair. Doesn't matter which part of the line or which direction the ball bounces.UltimateVUFan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:19 pm I don’t see how they overturned that out call. Re: UT vs Vandy2
this game is over in the 1st inning. Holton has 33 pitches, down 3 runs. UT pitcher has 10 pitches in the first inning, no baserunners.

Re: UT vs Vandy2
Hilton needs six outs to get out of the first. A pretty sad inning. Catcher’s interference. Dropped third strike and non-tag, awkward non-slide non-catch in outfield.
It’s a long season and we just ended an 18 game winning streak - but we have not played well the past week.
Defense, offense, uninspired. Not saying we can’t get it back because we can. But this is ugly. The batting order just seems stagnant. The fielding - which should be a plus - is a minus.

Re: UT vs Vandy2
I don’t understand how you award a run for that foul ball that was overturned. Player could have fallen down and been tagged out.
That’s the second time I’ve seen the referees / umpires review and award points to Tennessee after a dead ball… last time was in Sucktown for football about ten years ago. Total garbage.

I didn't see the play (tuned in late), but if the ball hits the line at all it's a fair ball.UltimateVUFan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:19 pm I don’t see how they overturned that out call. I did, unfortunately, see Carter Young not make the 3rd out tag at 2nd, and then see Jack Bulger buy a ticket and watch the game instead of getting back into defensive position. Missed fly balls last night was bad luck (can't catch what you can't see), but that 1-6-2 nobody out run scores without an error on the play...that was bad.

Re: UT vs Vandy2
UT is better than us at every single position on offense and defense and pitching. You have to wonder what our scouting team is looking at because outside of Diaz and Holton our youngsters are not impressive and our upper classmen are what they were 2 years ago. literally no improvement there

Re: UT vs Vandy2
It's nice when your starter throws 96-97 and over the plate. Do we have one on our roster that can do that?

Re: UT vs Vandy2
So, could be way off base here. But is it possible those wrist pitch devices are interfering with the boys’ ability to just focus on the real-time game and make plays? How many of us can say with certainty that our cell phones (or smart watches) can distract us from the task at hand. Maybe they should abandon them and just focus on playing the game they’ve trained to play their whole lives and forget the stupid technology. (Of course, I’m as far from savvy compared to Corbs as I could possibly be…but I do teach children for a living and see firsthand that technology often tends to be more of a distraction than a benefit.)

Re: UT vs Vandy2
UT pitcher has thrown 37 pitches in 3 innings. We have no answer down 3 runs. We aren't even on pace to get him out of the game in 8 innings, no base runners, no long at bats. He's on cruise control
