Re: Alabama SEC game
Two pretty good innings for Schultz. Still, I cringe every time he goes 3-1 or 3-2 on a batter, which seems to be all of them. Just waiting for a gopher ball. So far so good for everything.
Would like a couple more runs though. Not greedy, just anxious.

Re: Alabama SEC game
Schultz delivers two good, scoreless innings.
Nice job.
He has good stuff. The danger of the long ball - adds pressure to throw strikes… This makes him a potential “adventure” in a one run game. But a great choice here.

Re: Alabama SEC game
If Schultz finishes, I think he qualifies for a save. I didn’t check but it may be the first this season.

Re: Alabama SEC game
Since when can you come in and out in baseball. Batter gets hit and comes out. Guy pinch runs for him. Then the guy who got hit goes out to play short the next half inning. Then, in the ninth he guy who pinch ran comes in and pinch hits. Never heard of this before.

I found that very odd, too. Only thing I can figure is some kind of weird injury exception. But never heard of such, either.commadore wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 9:22 pm Since when can you come in and out in baseball. Batter gets hit and comes out. Guy pinch runs for him. Because he was hit on the helmet, a concussion protocol must be performed. Since the game cannot be stopped while they do It, a temporary substitution is allowed.UltimateVUFan wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 9:25 pm I found that very odd, too. Pitcher stance, concussion evaluation rules approved for college baseball
"Concussion evaluations
The panel also approved allowing any player who is removed for a concussion evaluation to return to the game if cleared by medical personnel.
This proposal came from the Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports.
The player undergoing concussion evaluation, whether a starter or a substitute, can be replaced by any eligible player who has not participated in the game.
HISTORY: College baseball's most unbreakable records
If the injured player is cleared to resume participation, he may resume his lineup spot only. A player may reenter the game only one time. The temporary replacement player may again participate in the game as a substitute in the same lineup spot only."

And will likely re-gain the DH spot for the rest of the year. I wish he could play first, Polk could DH, and Noland could sit (at least against lefties).

Kid is hitting .300 and doesn't play every day. 2 for 2, 3 walks, 3 runs, 2 RBIgeeznotagain wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 11:07 pmAnd will likely re-gain the DH spot for the rest of the year. I wish he could play first, Polk could DH, and Noland could sit (at least against lefties).
