Stack said the play that won the Auburn game was one that our former assistant coach, Ed Conroy, (and now head coach at The Citadel) brought the play to Vanderbilt. He also brought us his nephew, Liam Robbins - so let us thank Ed Conroy as did Stack for this incredible contribution to Vanderbilt basketball. (I trust VU alums know that the author Pat Conroy played at The Citadel and wrote a book about it - "My Losing Season" and was Ed Conroy's first cousin.)

My cousin was in Pat's company at The Citadel and has some stories to tell, but the most phenomenal one I have was a reading he gave here in Charleston of one of his books, the Great Santini, I think, and in the Q&A someone asked Pat how his father and mother met - he told the Atlanta bus stop story where his father begged his mother to give him her number and Pat said: "I wish they hell she hadn't." Think about that...
