Vols’ Offer to Edzavier Deblaw Could Open Doors

Tennessee Recruiting Update

Tennessee recently extended an offer to 2021 offensive guard Edzavier Deblaw. That offer could open doors to a 5-star running back.

The 6-4, 330-pound offensive guard is a teammate of the the nation’s top ranked running back prospect for both Rivals.com and 247Sports.com, Zachary Evans. Evans happens to be visiting the Volunteers this weekend. The pair recently won their second straight Texas 6A Division I national championship for the Mustangs against Duncanville despite Evans missing the game for a violation of team rules.

With signing day less than two weeks away this offer could be a way to sweeten the deal for the number one 2020 running back recruit. Deblaw is listed as a 3-star prospect on both recruiting sites and averages around the 95th best player listed in Texas. He is extremely strong as shown from videos of him bench pressing 405 pounds his sophomore year, a number that certainly must be higher now. He appears to play angry, driving opponents across multiple yard markers, sometimes even taking out two defenders.

There’s not much recent film for Deblaw other than camps, one of which was held by LSU last year where Deblaw performed so well that the now defending national champion Tigers extended him his first offer by the end of it. Wherever the two end they’ll join multiple other Mustang standouts at the next level including 2021 Texas A&M commit Shadrach Banks.
