Colquitt County 5-10, 201-pound running back Daijun Edwards from Moultrie, Georgia locked in his commitment to the Bulldogs on Thursday morning.
By DT Yates
Georgia needed someone to step in to fill the spot left by Zach Evans, who was released from his letter of intent and they did so perfectly with the addition of the consensus four-star Edwards who held offers from Auburn, FSU, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Tennessee and Penn State. Edwards is ranked as high as ninth nationally at his position and will join Kendall Milton from Clovis, California as Georgia’s 2020 running back signees.
Edwards has excellent vision that stands out when he quickly moving laterally to change directions after new running lanes open. He’s not afraid of contact as shown repeatedly on film and makes people look foolish in the open field with his acceleration. He’s capable of catching out of the backfield as well, could play receiver for many teams. One of the more impressive plays was at 02:33 in the video below where he reaches around and behind the back of a defender to make an outstanding catch. Edwards weight was already eclipsing 200 pounds prior to being on campus. He’s only going to get stronger and would be playing on many power-five rosters regularly as a true freshman.
