The Texas A&M recruiting class of 2022 was already one of the best recruiting classes in history. They closed out National Signing Day with the undisputed No. 1 class in the nation, with Jimbo Fisher putting together a group that featured four 5-star prospects. Then, over the weekend, they added a fifth.

That player is Lebbeus “LT” Overton. Overton was at one point the No. 1 overall rated player in the Class of 2023 before he decided to reclassify to the Class of 2022. That reclassification didn’t hurt Overton too much. According to the 247Sports recruiting composite, Overton is the No. 18 player in this class, the No. 5 defensive line prospect, and the No. 3 player in Georgia. The Milton (Alpharetta, GA) High School player chose the lure of the class the Aggies have put together over two other finalists in Georgia and Oregon.
Overton stands at an impressive 6-foot-4.5 and carries around 265 pounds of good weight. His size and athletic profile means he has the ability to fill multiple roles on a defense, with defensive end looking like the best fit in the Texas A&M system.
In the video below you can see the skills that have led Overton to compiling 48 sacks as a high school player. Of all his traits, it is Overton’s speed off of the snap that is the first thing to stand out when watching his film. A player this big shouldn’t have this level of explosion. He is also a player that works with effort to get to the quarterback and Overton has outstanding leg drive when in contact that allows him to almost rush straight through offensive linemen to get to the quarterback.
A sure tackler, Overton is also always looking for the strip sack. He has active hands that allow him to both disengage from blockers, but they also to target the ball when in and around the quarterback. His addition makes an already scary recruiting class look formidable.
