Arkansas Recruiting Update

Arkansas has been the SEC school working the recruiting game the past week or so and their latest commitment is 3-star wide receiver Davion Dozier.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, the class of 2023 prospect has the physical tools that scream matchup problem for even the best cornerbacks in the SEC.

Dozier is out of Moody (Moody, AL) High School and he has been moving up the recruiting boards. He is rated by the 247Sports Composite Rankings as the No. 685 player in the nation, the No. 90 wide receiver, and the No. 28 player in Alabama. It will be interesting to see where he is ranked at the end of the recruiting cycle.

Arkansas had to beat out schools from a number of Power 5 conferences to land Dozier. The likes of Maryland and Duke were among his finalists, with SEC rivals Tennessee and South Carolina also in the hunt for his services.

In the video below you can see what Dozier is going to bring to the Hogs from 2023 onward. Dozier had 51 catches for 833 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior and his senior season could easily see a big jump in those numbers. The first play is legit. Dozier catches a swing pass on the right side of the field near his own goal line. It is his vision and use of space – plus his unexpected agility – that steals the show on this play as he works his way against the grain to score in the left corner of the end zone after a 100+ yard sprint.

The second play is probably more impressive to scouts. Dozier catches a deep pass by high pointing the ball even with minimal separation from his defender. It is the type of play that few receivers could actually make, but his size – and the length of his arms – makes reaching up and grabbing the ball in a spot that the defender could never get to entirely possible.
