Player Evaluation: Texas A&M Commit Bravion Rogers

Texas A&M Recruiting Update

The Texas A&M recruiting class of 2022 is going to go down in history as the best in history to date. Cornerback Bravion William’s commit puts the Aggies on track for another stellar signing class.

That 2022 group has eight prospects rated at the 5-star level and 18 players in the top-100 nationally. That, however, does not mean that Jimbo Fisher and his staff have been resting on their laurels and neglecting the future as the commitment of a big-time recruit for the class of 2023 shows.

Bravion Rogers is a 5-foot-10, 185 pound cornerback out of La Grange (La Grange, TX) High School. He is not yet rated on the 247Sports Composite, but he is rated by the recruiting service themselves. He is considered by 247Sports as a 4-star prospect. Rogers is the No. 51 player in the nation, the No. 7 cornerback, and the No. 9 player in Texas.

Rogers made his choice to pledge to the Aggies quickly. He didn’t even receive an offer until early April, but the Texas native knew that this was the correct spot for him. He chose Texas A&M over a bevy of Power 5 contenders including Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, and Georgia.

Rogers is a speedy corner able to run with even the faster wide receivers out there. He has a 40-yard dash time that is in the low 4.4/high 4.3 range and he knows how to use that speed to shut down an entire side of the field.

In the video below you can see Rogers in action. The elite speed makes Rogers a special teams menace. Be it returning kicks like the first clip or flying off of the edge to block a kick like the second clip. Other clips show how Rogers is able to time his blitzes, how he can read the game to fall off of one route runner onto another to make a play, or how he can get into position to break up a pass on a deep ball. A versatile athlete, Rogers will contribute on special teams immediately and work his way quickly into the defensive back mix in College Station.
