Darren Agu is a 6-foot-6, 230-pound defensive lineman from Rabun Gap, Georgia. He is a student at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School located in Rabun Gap.

Agu is rated 3 stars by Rivals.com and 3 stars by 247sports.com. According to Rivals.com, Agu committed to the Commodores and head coach Clark Lea on July 14, 2021.

Agu is considered one of the top 2022 high school football prospects in the state of Georgia. He is ranked No. 32 in the United States at his position by 247Sports. Agu was previously committed to Notre Dame.

Rivals.com rated Agu at 5.7. A rivals rating of 6.1 or higher is considered a “Franchise Player,” A rivals rating of 6.0 to 6.8 is considered commensurate as a “All American Candidate,” a rivals rating 5.7 to 5.5 is considered an “All Region Selection,” and a rating of 5.2-5.4 is viewed as a “Low End FBS prospect.”

Agu discussed his on-field abilities with NBC Sports:

“College coaches say I’m very athletic for my size,” Agu said. “They think I can pass rush or drop into coverage. I could play tight end or defensive end at the next level.”

In addition to Vanderbilt and Notre Dame, some of Agu‘s more notable offers included Alabama, Arizona State and Arkansas.

Agu is one of over 19 known 2022 football commits for Vanderbilt. That number could change due to additional commits or decommits.
