The Auburn Tigers hit on another recruit this week as Ja’Kobi “Jet” Albert committed to play his college football for Bryan Harsin and his staff. Ja’Kobi “Jet” Albert is a big recruit for the Tigers as he is a Top 15 prospect in the state of Alabama per many recruiting services.

The battle to keep the talent away from the enemy down in Tuscaloosa is a serious one. Albert – a 5-foot-11, 175 pound athlete out of Fairfield (Fairfield, AL) Preparatory School is ranked by the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Database as the No. 354 player in the class of 2022, the No. 23 athlete, and the No. 13 player in Alabama.

Auburn – who beat the likes of Michigan, Maryland, Alcorn State, and Arkansas to the recruitment of Albert – is a two-way standout in high school with experience playing both wide receiver on offense and in the defensive secondary. According to Albert, he will be playing on the defensive side of the ball for Auburn and it was the relationship with the coaching staff that Harsin has built that pushed Auburn over the line ahead of his other finalists.

In the video below you can see that Albert is a player with the tools to contribute quickly at Auburn. The first play shows the blistering straight-line speed that Albert has – speed that he will be able to use to run down offensive threats from his position in the secondary. The play starting around 30 seconds into the video is one that should really excite Auburn fans. Albert sees the play develop on a pass into the flat and he is immediately flying towards the ball. His tackling technique here is perfect, striking the offensive player so he has nowhere to go as he keeps his legs driving through the tackle and monstering the player to the turf. Instincts like those are rare and natural.
