Player Evaluations: Georgia Commits Jalon Walker & Jordan James

Georgia Recruiting Update

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are killing it on the 2022 recruiting trail. The Bulldogs added to their 2022 haul in late March with a pair of high-end 4-star prospects, Jalon Walker and Jordan James.

The first to commit was outside linebacker Jalon Walker. Walker – out of Salisbury (Salisbury, NC) High School – is the No. 50 recruit in the class, the No. 4 outside linebacker, and the No. 2 playing in North Carolina. At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Walker looks like a college athlete already. In his video below you can see how he uses his height and length to make plays. He is an explosive edge rusher from a two-point stance and he has the instincts, speed, and motor to chase down plays from the backside when it is called for. His pass-rushing skills are already developed – due to his athleticism and anticipation – and he also flashes as a coverage linebacker where he is successful both in covering backs man-to-man out of the backfield and also sliding into a zone and reading/reacting on a play.

Walker was quickly joined as a future Bulldog by Jordan James. James – a running back out of Oakland (Murfreesboro, TN) High School – is the No. 179 recruit nationally, the No. 17 running back, and the No. 3 player in class of 2022 out of Tennessee. The 5-foot-10, 205 pounder is a running back that looks like a nightmare to tackle. He is compact and powerful, using his size – along with excellent leg drive – to break tackles and carry defenders for extra yardage. James will never be used as an out and out burner but he has more than enough speed to break a long run here and there. An efficient runner, James will quickly find his way onto the field thanks to his ability as a pass-catcher and his commitment to pick up a blitzing linebacker.
