Player Evaluation: Missouri Commit Sam Horn

Missouri Recruiting Update

It is always good to have talented options at the quarterback position and that is exactly what Eli Drinkwitz has in his latest recruit, class of 2022 pro-style quarterback Sam Horn. Horn – a 4-star prospect our of Collins Hills (Suwanee, GA) High School – is a player long coveted by the Tigers and he chose to head to Columbia over offers from the likes of Florida, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

Horn pushed the Mizzou class up to No. 15 in the nation and he is the seventh 4-star level prospect to commit to the Tigers over the last couple of recruiting cycles. Horn ranks as the No. 82 player in the nation, the No. 6 pro quarterback, and the No. 9 player in Georgia per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 247Sports staff likes him even better than that, with Horn coming in as the No. 62 player, No. 4 pro quarterback, and the No 6 player in Georgia per their recruiting analysts.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder is noted for having ideal size for his position and his baseball background gives Horn a little of that live arm/gunslinger mentality that coaches love to work with. Horn also has enough shiftiness in him to be hard to track down in the open field and can make the passes on the move that every system needs in the 2020s.

Horn’s game tape is outstanding. He has excellent touch on his long passes and is always looking to make a play downfield even when he is being harassed by numerous defenders. The fourth play is a great example of this as instead of tucking and running he keeps the play alive by fading to his right before delivering a strike for a huge gain. Quarterbacks with the ability to make all the throws without having to set their feet are huge at the moment and Horn is one that fits right in that category. He should have a very productive career for Missouri.
