The South Carolina Gamecocks have succeeded in keeping a top 10 prospect in the state at home after WR O’Mega Blake – a stunning name if ever I heard one – pledged to the school.

Blake already has good size for a college WR at 6-foot-2 and just under 190-pounds. He picked the Gamecocks over a pair of other finalists in Virginia Tech and Louisville. Blake is listed as an athlete in some recruiting guides as he has started for South Pointe at QB, WR, DB, and on special teams. South Carolina has recruited Blake as a WR and that is where he will be given his first chances as a college athlete.
O’Mega Blake Scouting Report
Blake looks great on his junior year tape that we have below. He caught 50 passes for over 1,000 yards with 14 TDs at over 20 yards per catch. What immediately stands out is Blake’s ability to run at his size. This isn’t a player who just relies on out jumping a defender – though that is certainly something he is more than capable of doing.
Blake’s ability to get behind a secondary and distance himself – along with his big catching radius – makes him a dual-threat as a receiver who is going to be hard for either cornerbacks or safeties to cover. When Blake gets into the college system and goes on to refine his route running he will become a player that is very hard for defenses to deal with.
The play at 1:40 in this video is another interesting one. O’Mega Blake catches an underneath pass and with no room to move at all, he beats four defenders with a degree of elusiveness that you wouldn’t expect from a player his size. South Carolina may have picked up a hidden gem in Blake.
