The Mississippi State Bulldogs added to their passing attack in late July as they secured the commitment of 4-star WR Malik Nabers. Nabers – who is out of Lafayette, La. – was a highly coveted prospect in the 247Sports Composite ranking him as the No. 248 player in the nation, the No. 45 ranked wide receiver in the class of 2021, and the No. 8 player in the state of Louisiana.

Malik Nabers is even more highly regarded by 247Sport’s own recruiting service, with them having Nabers as the No. 143 player nationally and the No. 20 wide receiver in the group.
Nabers is the 12th player to commit to the Bulldogs’ 2021 recruiting class. Mike Leach was able to secure the commitment of the 6-foot, 190-pounder ahead of 30 other schools that had offered the player. This included Georgia, the school that was the other finalist for Nabers in the process.
The biggest selling point for Nabers in choosing to play for Mississippi State is the offense that Leach runs. As a high school junior, Nabers had 21 touchdowns on 58 catches and 1,223 receiving yards. The Mississippi State class of 2021 also includes a 4-star quarterback in Sawyer Robinson and another 4-star WR in Theodore Knox. These are the positions that Leach builds his offense around that will air out the ball constantly as his quarterback looks for mismatches.
Malik Nabers Scouting Report
This video shows why Nabers is so effective as a pass-catcher. He has an impressive leap and is always high pointing the ball, meaning that he makes up for his lack of elite height with his ball skills. He shows the ability to catch the ball in double coverage or to use his route running skill to get away from defenders with a shake of the hips to get open and make a catch. Nabers also has speed to burn- just look at how he runs away from defenders after the catch on underneath routes – and he is a threat to score whenever he has the ball in his hands.
