Tennessee picked up a big commitment in June – and a fantastic name to boot – as 4-star TE Hudson Wolfe pledged his college future to the Vols. Wolfe – who has a career set as either a football player or action movie star – picked the Vols over a number of top tier schools including Ohio State and Alabama.

The Hardin County (Savannah, Tenn.) High School star chose to stay in-state as head coach Jeremy Pruitt adds yet another high-end player to his 2021 recruiting class.
Wolfe is the No. 9 TE in the class and the No. 225 player overall according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is also the No. 6 player in the state of Tennessee as Pruitt and the Vols have worked hard to close their borders and keep the best players at home. The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder will grow more into his body and he uses that size plus his athletic ability to dominate smaller defenders in the style of the modern day tight end.
Wolfe will have something to prove given the level of play in his region. The video below, however, shows that Wolfe has some skills that will immediately translate to the college game. The very first play of the film shows Wolfe laying out on the full run to haul in a pass that would be overthrown to any other player on the field. That Wolfe has the wingspan and the finger dexterity to haul in the ball is a testament to his catching ability and the softness of his hands for his size.
Other clips in this video show Wolfe running away from, around, and over defenders. While he isn’t an elite speed guy, Wolfe’s ability to box out defenders and reach the ball at its highest point will make him a dangerous weapon for the Vols, especially in the red zone.
