Arkansas WR commit can make the difficult catches

Arkansas Recruiting Update

The Arkansas Razorbacks picked up a piece in their rebuilding project on Tuesday as WR Jaedon Wilson committed to the school and its recruiting class of 2021.

Wilson – a 3-star prospect out of DeSoto (DeSoto, Tex.) High School – continues a tradition in his family of college ball at a Power Five school after his brother Dontre was an Ohio State recruit in the Class of 2013.

In the younger Wilson, the Razorbacks are getting a 6-foot-3, 172-pounder who will be a matchup problem when he adds college weight. Wilson is ranked as the No. 846 player nationally and the No. 121 WR. He is also ranked as the No. 115 player in the state of Texas. It will be interesting to see how those rankings move when Wilson plays his senior year at DeSoto – only his second year at the school after he transferred in from Bishop Lynch before his junior season.

Wilson finished his junior season with 28 catches and 523 yards as a player who is a serious downfield threat. He averaged 18.7 yards per catch and scored seven touchdowns. He will be the focal point for the DeSoto offense next season, so don’t be at all surprised to see those numbers make a big jump.

Watching Wilson on tape you can see a raw talent that will get much better them more high-level coaching he receives. The physical tools are obviously there and Wilson shows both separation and the ability to make difficult catches thanks to his impressive ball skills multiple times in this video. When his legs are stretched out, the long-striding Wilson can move with deceptive speed and he shows flashes of being a good route runner – though most of his plays rely on his ability to get behind the secondary at present. Wilson is a WR piece that might prove to be worth much more than his current recruiting value in a few years time.
