Athletic Receiver Bolsters Ole Miss ’21 Crop

Ole Miss Recruiting Update

Ole Miss recently picked up a huge commitment from 4-star wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. Steve Wright of 14powers.com breaks down Adonai Mitchell’s abilities.

There was a big win for Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin in the recruiting game this week as they picked up recruit No. 4 for their 2021 class. Kiffin – who has previous in Tennessee and thus plenty of recruiting clout in the state – was able to pry away 4-star WR Adonai Mitchell from the likes of Georgia, LSU, and Auburn.

Mitchell – who is ranked as the 58th best WR in the class and the No. 10 prospect in Tennessee per the 247Sports Composite Rankings caught almost 800 yards worth of passes in 2019 and turned them into 11 touchdowns. The Antioch, Tennessee prospect out of Cane Ridge High School will be an immediate boost to the receiving ranks in Oxford and a player that the corps could be built around down the line.

Mitchell – who has room to grow still – stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 190 pounds. He has actually completed his high school career, but he has decided to take the fall off of school and enroll in January, reclassifying from the class of 2020 to 2021. Mitchell hopes this prep time before college will give him a head start on his rival players.

This video shows the skills Mitchell will be bringing with him to Ole Miss. While not an elite burner, Mitchell has the speed to beat a defense when he gets behind them. He also has good moves after the catch and will develop into a good route runner thanks to his ability to change direction at his size. His best asset is probably his ability to find the ball in the air and go after it, beating defenders repeatedly to high point the ball and take it away from them. He will also be an asset in the running game as his size will allow him to manhandle smaller cornerbacks at the point of attack.
