LSU Lands 2022 DB Bryan Allen Jr.

LSU Recruiting Update

The world may have stopped to some degree, but recruiting for college football classes continues. LSU announced this week that they have picked up another recruit they have been chasing with Bryan Allen Jr. committing to their class of 2022.

Bryan Allen is ranked as the second best safety in the entire class and the No. 52 recruit overall according to the composite services at 247Sports.

Allen is the fourth player to commit to the Tigers’ 2022 class and he is a big win for LSU as they were able to poach him from Big 12 country as he is coming out of Aledo High School in Aledo, Texas. It also gives LSU an impressive set of defensive back recruits as Allen will slot in alongside Khamauri Rogers – the No. 6 CB in the class – and another safety from Texas in Bryce Anderson who is the No. 4 safety in the class.

Allen had a dominant season as a sophomore where he registered 80 solo tackles (122 total tackles) and picked up three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and a pair of forced fumbles. At 6-foot-0 and 183 pounds, Allen is already a decent sized player for what he does and he will undoubtedly add weight and muscle over the next few years.

This video does a good job of showing all his attributes and his versatility at the position. He has a knack for reading the quarterback to be in position in pass coverage, but he is also a player that can come up and make a great form tackle at the point of attack. He also seems to have a knack for ghosting past potential blockers like they aren’t even there. His ability to read the screen game in particular shows a level of maturity above his years that LSU fans should be excited about seeing in Baton Rouge.
