football player

Phillip O’Brien is a 6-foot-2 inch, 190 pound defensive back from Pompano Beach, Fla. O’Brien verbally committed to Auburn on February 1, 2020. 14Powers.com National Recruiting Analyst DT Yates has reviewed O’Brien’s scouting video and provides comments on his strengths and weaknesses.

Phillip O’Brien is a slippery defender that possesses another gear he’s able to kick into that punishes quarterbacks and receivers alike. As shown at the 0:35 mark in the video below, he saves a touchdown by chasing down a runner already over ten yards ahead of him. O’Brien blocked a pair of kicks with his elite speed last season. He’s not afraid of laying a hit though tackling could improve, he’s still not easy to beat in the open field. Does well at reading the play development and taking good angles to the carrier. His weight and height are solid though there’s still room to put on lean muscle.
