New Mizzou LB Commit a Sack Artist

Missouri Recruiting Update

It seems only appropriate that 6-foot-3, 205 pound Florida outside linebacker Johnny Walker would decide to suit up in Missouri’s black and gold.

Hailing from Tampa, Florida where he played at Chamberlain High School, Walker is another big recruiting win for linebacker coach Vernon Hargreaves and was a much needed get as the second linebacker in the 2020 class. He’s got a large frame with room to grow and saying he seems hard to block seems like an understatement.

Walker also received offers from Nebraska, Miami (Fla.), Kansas State, Maryland, Washington State, Illinois and UCF. He is rated 3-stars by both Rivals.com and 247Sports.com.

Johnny Walker had previously been committed to Washington State and left shortly after coach Mike Leach’s departure from the Cougars and Walkers visit to Missouri. He is an All-American who put up crazy numbers over his junior year like 48 tackles, including 20 for a loss and 13 sacks. He’s fast for his size and it shows at 01:28 into the video below where he easily splits two blockers to sack the quarterback for a five yard loss.

He’s already strong and it’s scary to think about what he’ll turn into as he develops at the next level, possessing the instincts to go with his play recognition. Walker isn’t just pummeling into the backfield but reads the play before destroying it with his insane speed and the excellent angles taken to blow up the runner.
