Wright's Renegade SEC Picks

The penultimate week of the regular season is upon us in their wildest of all years and it wouldn’t be 2020 without a postponement to ruin the mood.

Steve Wright

Week Results: 4-1. The Vandy/Georgia postponement is just being treated as void.

Closest Pick: Alabama 55, LSU 17. Actual was…wait…for…it…A PERFECT PICK. I made the joke last week after dropping from missing by two points to one point that this would be the week, but damn. That feels good. (Sorry LSU fans).

Season Results: 45-15.

(1) Alabama @ Arkansas – Alabama put up 55 points and 650 yards of total offense on LSU last Saturday. Arkansas has lost three in a row and given up almost a mile of yardage combined in the defeats. This is one of those that doesn’t deserve over thinking as ‘Bama will have it sewn up by halftime. Alabama 62, Arkansas 31.
(8) Georgia @ Mizzou – Mizzou is sneaky good – their only home loss on the year was to Alabama – and they will keep this closer than Vegas thinks. Expect to see Mizzou control tempo, but the Georgia attack with JT Daniels at the helm and a running game that went for a season high 332 yards last time out will give them too much balance to be contained. Georgia 33, Mizzou 24.
Tennessee @ Vandy – Vandy was panned 41-0 last time out in a game that got Derek Mason fired. Sarah Fuller created history, but the offense was bad enough she didn’t even get to attempt a field goal. Tennessee hasn’t scored more than 21 points since the first weekend in October, so this could be a long afternoon for all involved. I’ll take Vandy in an upset few really care about. Vandy 17, Tennessee 14.
LSU @ (6) Florida – Playing ‘Bama and this Florida team – the two SEC Title Game participants – back-to-back is the kind of draw that makes you wonder what you did wrong. Florida won’t score quite as many as Alabama did, but they won’t be far off. Florida 48, LSU 20.
Auburn @ Mississippi State – Freshman QB Will Rogers has had the Bulldogs on the cusp in successive 31-24 losses to Georgia and Ole Miss. Auburn is a team that has just kind of got by in 2020 – their best win is probably over Ole Miss – and if they overlook a Covid depleted Bulldogs’ side then they could come unstuck. Mississippi State 31, Auburn 24.
