Ole Miss football three keys: Mississippi State

Ole Miss three keys

Ole Miss hosts Mississippi State on Saturday in Oxford. Here are your three keys to an Ole Miss victory.

By Don Yates

1. Pressure Rogers

Will Rogers is a freshman quarterback for Mississippi State. He started his first game a couple of weeks ago, leading the Bulldogs to a 24-17 win over Vanderbilt. Last week he nearly led the Bulldogs to a win over Georgia and had over 40 pass completions. The Rebels have to get some pressure on Rogers or it will be a long day for the Rebels. Vandy did a good job pressuring Rogers in the second half of their game with State, bringing up last second pressure on the edges to confuse Rogers.

2. Matt Corral on fire

Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral has thrived under Lane Kiffin’s offensive schemes. Corral ranks 6th nationally in touchdown passes with 22. He and his offense are averaging over 560 yards total offense a game. It’s a no-brainer that the Rebels need for Corral to be spot on during this game.

3. Win the rushing battle

Ole Miss has the top rushing offense in the SEC. Mississippi State is third in the SEC in rushing defense. Last week the Bulldogs held Georgia to just eight yards rushing. Mississippi State rarely runs and is dead last in the SEC in rushing offense. The team that wins the ground war will probably win this game.

Saturday‘s game kicks off at 3:00 PM CT (4:00 PM ET). You can watch this Ole Miss football game on the SEC Network.
