Arkansas football three keys: Tennessee

Three-keys-Arkansas

By Don Yates

Arkansas hosts Tennessee on Saturday in Fayetteville. Here are your three keys to a Razorback victory.

1. Win the quarterback battle

Winning or losing in college football often comes down to which team’s quarterback performs the best. On Saturday it’ll be Feleipe Franks of Arkansas versus Jarrett Guarantano of Tennessee. No, they won’t be on the field together during a play but their performances will define the outcome of this contest. In five games this season Franks has completed 105 of 159 passes for 1,213 yards, 11 touchdowns and just three interceptions. Guarantano has struggled at times but he has been a catalyst for the Vols in some games. A slip-up or two by Franks could swing the game to Tennessee if Guarantano has a good day.

2. Protect the home turf

Tennessee is planning to march into Razorback Stadium, kick the hog’s butts and then dance on the Razorback logo after the game (no, we don’t really know about any dancing plans). The hogs must protect their home turf and also keep the positive momentum that the program is experiencing right now going. No, don’t get into a fight with the Vols. Just kick their tails on the field, shake their hands after the game and celebrate in the locker room.

3. Freshman threat

Jalin Hyatt is a freshman wide receiver for the Vols. Hyatt has just five catches for the Vols so far this season. However, Hyatt currently leads all SEC freshmen with three 30+ yard catches this season. He caught two of those against Alabama in his most recent outing. Hyatt, who was a pre-season 247sports Freshman All-America pick, seems to be a player that is trending significantly in an upward manner and a player that can hurt an opponent. The hogs have to keep Hyatt covered.

Saturday‘s game kicks off at 6:30 PM CT (7:30 PM ET). Watch on the SEC Network.
