Ole Miss Three Keys: Arkansas

Ole Miss three keys

Ole Miss visits Arkansas on Saturday in Fayetteville. Here are your three keys to an Arkansas victory.

By Don Yates

1. Play defense

We harped on this last week to deaf ears. Ole Miss gave up 63 points, 37 first downs and 723 yards to Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Wasted was an over 600 yard and 48 point effort by the Rebel offense. Ole Miss needs to do something innovative to help their defense. Maybe it’s moving a player to a new position or allowing an offensive player to play some defense, maybe in just in third-down situations. Do something.

2. Corral stays on glide path

Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral has been outstanding for the Rebels. So far this season he’s passed for over 1,000 yards, nine touchdowns and only one interception. Corral is third nationally in passing efficiency (210.7). The Rebels need for Corral to continue his hot passing. His favorite target Elijah Moore (31 receptions) surely wants that too.

3. Block Bumper Pool

Ole Miss middle linebacker Bumper Pool Jr. is one of the top tacklers in the SEC. In the 2020 season in three games the 6-foot-2, 229-pound junior has made 36 tackles. This player is a weapon for the Razorbacks. Arkansas is currently a respectable fifth in the SEC in opponent third-down conversions. That’s helped the Razorbacks be competitive in the first three games. Ole Miss needs to do something to prevent Pool from piling up the tackles.

Saturday‘s game kicks off at 2:30 PM CT (3:30 PM ET). Watch on the ESPN2 Network.
