Wright’s Renegade SEC Football Picks

Wright's Renegade SEC Picks

Rivalry week is the best week of the year. Three perfect weeks back to back. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

By Steve Wright

Last week’s record: 8-0

Overall record: 80-22

Exact score predicted: 0

Misses:  Really there were only two or three question mark games last week and we hit them all.

Closest Pick: It finished Mississippi State 45, Abilene Christian 7. I predicted Mississippi State 42 (boo!), ACU 7 (yay!)

Thursday, November 28

Ole Miss @ Mississippi State – A pair of teams with win and they are (likely) in as bowl teams – Ole Miss has the academics to go as a 5-7 team – while the loser stays home over Christmas. It will be a grind of a game with the Rebels making this the fifth year in a row that the road team has won the Egg Bowl and John Rhys Plumlee comes up big on the ground. Ole Miss 31, Mississippi State 21.

Friday, November 29

Missouri @ Arkansas – The Tigers bowl ban remains in place so a win here would be huge to end their season on a strong note. That shouldn’t be too difficult as Kelly Bryant will finally break out of his second half slump against an Arkansas team that can’t stop anyone. Mizzou 42, Arkansas 10.

Saturday, November 30

No. 3 Clemson @ South Carolina – Shhhh. Trevor Lawrence has been the best QB in America not named Joe Burrow as of late. Their offense is destroying teams – Larence has 13 TDs in his last four games – and South Carolina are about to host a buzzsaw that few in America are paying attention to. Clemson 45, South Carolina 13.

No. 4 Georgia @ Georgia Tech – The Yellow Jackets are struggling hard on offense as they switch from the triple-option to a more modern attack. At some point in the future they will challenge the Bulldogs in this game, but this isn’t the year that happens. Georgia 45, Georgia Tech 10.

Louisville @ Kentucky – The Kentucky rushing game has averaged over 430 yards over the last two games. If the defense can stop Louisville QB Micale Cunningham then the offense will do enough to beat a Cardinals team that only knows how to win in shootouts. Kentucky 28, Louisville 24.

No. 5 Alabama @ No. 15 Auburn – The Iron Bowl is huge for ‘Bama as they try to make a case for CFP inclusion. Bo Nix has done more quarterbacking this year than Mac Jones, but the other pieces in the ‘Bama team will step up – look for a big day from Najee Harris – as the Crimson Tide roll. Alabama 31, Auburn 14.

Vanderbilt @ Tennessee – The Commodores have a chance to beat Tennessee four years straight. They won’t. Tennessee 31, Vandy 17.

Texas A&M @ No. 2 LSU – The Aggies are still the best team in the country no one seems to care about. Kellen Mond is good enough to cause the LSU D some serious headaches and it will take another Heisman level performance from Joe Burrow to put the pesky Aggies away in the second half. LSU 31, Texas A&M 27.

Florida State @ No. 11 Florida – The Gators are 17 point favorites over the Seminoles in a rivalry game that feels like it needs to be better for the good of college football. Florida will havoc it up against the helpless Seminoles for this year at least. Florida 31, Florida State 13.
