Week Results: 5-2. LSU and Florida both went down as heavy favorites. It isn’t just me getting these picks wrong!
Closest Pick: Georgia 34, Tennessee 14. Actual was Georgia 44, Tennessee 21. 17 points is a lot to miss by but this was a dumb week!
Season Results: 14-7
(15) Auburn @ South Carolina – Bo Nix has yet to find his feet on the road where he is 3-4 with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. Neither of these teams has been particularly impressive so far, but it is hard to pick the Gamecocks to win much of anything until they beat someone other than a massively deplete Vanderbilt squad. Auburn just about takes this. Auburn 24, South Carolina 21.
Kentucky @ (18) Tennessee – The Kentucky ground game leads the SEC with 212 yards per contest even though they weren’t particularly impressive against Mississippi State last week. The defense went off with six picks against the Bulldogs last week, six more than in the first two weeks of the season combined. Tennessee has been balanced and smart with the football, generally doing enough to win by not making mistakes. Kentucky 28, Tennessee 24.
Ole Miss @ Arkansas – The Rebels are your classic all or nothing team. They are second in the nation in total offense with an attack that can move the ball on the ground and through the air. The flip side, however, is they are last in the SEC in just about every stat that matters. Arkansas has been playing well by limiting mistakes and taking the ball away. That won’t be enough against this fire show of an offense. Ole Miss 44, Arkansas 35
(11) Texas A&M @ Mississippi State – There is no way the Mississippi State passing game can be as inaccurate as it was last week. The Bulldogs have thrown almost as many picks in three games as they did all of last season, but at some point this will all click. Texas A&M won’t let Saturday be that day despite the fact their secondary has been horrible over the past couple of weeks. A&M 38. Mississippi State 31.
(3) Georgia @ (2) Alabama – Steve Sarkisian is an ideal guy to step in for Nick Saban, but the Alabama coach contracting Covid-19 throws a cloud over this whole game. The Bulldogs are about the only team in the country that seems to want to play defense this year, but is Stetson Bennett a good enough QB to hang with Mac Jones, Najee Harris, and the rest of the ‘Bama offense? This feels like it will be close and it also feels like it won’t be the only time we see this matchup play out this season. I’ll go for an upset here. Georgia 31, Alabama 28.
