Arkansas Three Keys: Mississippi State

Three-keys-Arkansas

The Arkansas Razorbacks visit the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday in Starkville. Here are your three keys to a Razorback victory.

By Don Yates

1 – Study hard

Mike Leach runs a complicated, wide open, passing attack and they rarely running. Against LSU the Bulldogs piled up over 600 yards on 60 passing attempts. Leach’s offense is so different that it takes opponents a long time to figure out a plan to stop it and then implement that plan. Get busy studying.

2 – Feleipe Franks shines

Feleipe Franks, a graduate transfer quarterback from Florida, has to play well against State. He did okay last week in the loss to Georgia going 19 for 36 for one touchdown and two interceptions. To keep up with MSU offense Franks is going to have to have a lot better showing than last week.

3 – Linebacking corps excels

In order to stop or at least slowdown State’s passing attack, the defensive secondary is going to need help from the linebackers in coverage. Arkansas does have some sound linebackers in Bumper Pool and Grant Morgan. The Razorbacks defense seems improved after one game but do they have enough depth to keep guys fresh against MSU and Leach?

Saturday‘s game kicks off at 6:30 PM CT (7:30 PM ET). Watch on the SEC Alternate Network.
