The Arkansas Razorbacks host Georgia on Saturday in Fayetteville. Here are your three keys to an Arkansas win over the Bulldogs.
By Don Yates
1- Franks sizzle in Fayettville
The Hogs picked up a big-time graduate transfer quarterback in Feleipe Franks who formerly played at Florida. While with the Gators in 2018 Franks passed for nearly 2,500 yards and 24 touchdowns. Franks if a big, strong quarterback and he may be the best quarterback on the field on Saturday. The Razorbacks obviously need him to shine in order to have a shot at upsetting the Bulldogs.
2- Out-smart Georgia
Georgia has a history of players doing un-smart things to lose games. The Auburn hail mary pass a few years back sticks out like a sore thumb. Two Bulldog players fought to make an interception but tipped the ball into an Auburn wide receiver’s hands who scored the winning TD for the Tigers. This was on the last play of the game with Georgia leading and only needing to knock down the pass to end the game on top. I won’t go on but there have been other times in big games where Georgia players do un-smart things to hurt their team. This key really relies on the Bulldogs continuing that un-smart trend but maybe the Razorbacks can do some creative things to help Georgia keep the trend going.
3- Defensive improvement
Last season the Razorbacks were dead last in the SEC in scoring defense. Arkansas gave up nearly 37 points per contest on average which were five points more than the 13th team in that SEC statistical category, Vanderbilt. With nine returning defensive starters the hog defense should be better. If the offense can sustain drives that will also help the defense by keeping them off the field.
