Wright’s Renegade SEC Football Picks

Wright's Renegade SEC Picks

The injury to Tua sucks. Joe Burrow has to win the Heisman. I understand the purpose of this week and the cupcakes before the closing storm, but it still sucks as a viewer and lover of good football.

By Steve Wright

Last week’s record: 6-0

Overall record: 72-22

Exact score predicted: 0

Misses: None of them. Another perfect week (somehow).

Closest Pick: It finished Georgia 21, Auburn 14. I predicted Georgia 24, Auburn 13. I hate this picking game sometimes.

Saturday, November 23

Western Carolina @ No. 5 Alabama – No Tua, no problem. At least not against a 3-8 FCS school that Alabama will run over by 50+ with Mac Jones at QB. Alabama 63, WCU 0.

Samford @ No. 15 Auburn – The Tigers need more from Bo Nix but it is their running game that will take over if this one isn’t settled by halftime. Samford will get a score or two as their passing attack is good enough to find a chunk play here and there against the Tigers secondary. Auburn 42, Samford 20

No. 24 Texas A&M @ No. 4 Georgia – The best game of the week in the SEC. Two teams that want to grind it out and win with defense and a running game. The Aggies are criminally underrated at No. 24 in the country and they will give Georgia a big time scare here. Jake Fromm will make just enough throws to push the Bulldogs over the line. Georgia 24, Texas A&M 21.

UT Martin @ Kentucky – The Wildcats really got rolling with over 400 yards of rushing offense – plus 127 through the air from Lynn Bowden – against Vandy last week. They should be able to run all over the Skyhawks here to become bowl eligible with a game to spare. Kentucky 35, UT Martin 13.

ETSU @ Vanderbilt – The Bucs have enough about them to give Vandy some issues. The passing game isn’t working for the Commodores – no more than 90 yards in the last three games – meaning Ke’Shawn Vaughn is rushing against a loaded box every play. Vandy will win, but it will be closer than many expect. Vanderbilt 31, ETSU 24.

Arkansas @ No. 1 LSU – Arkansas have made a coaching change with Barry Lunney named as the interim head coach after Chad Morris flamed out in epic fashion at the school. Lunney will soon wish that his first date was with anyone other than future Heisman winner Joe Burrow. LSU 48, Arkansas 10.

Abilene Christian @ Mississippi State – The Bulldogs need to win out to become bowl eligible. This one will be put away in the first half as the running game takes over early and doesn’t look back. Mississippi State 42, Abilene Christian 7.

Tennessee @ Mizzou – Mizzou has fallen off of a cliff offensively – 27 points in the last four games total – while the Vols are getting it done with a weird QB rotation that makes no sense. Hard to call by we are simply going against the team that is falling apart here. Tennessee 24, Mizzou 13.
