Another tuneup game for LSU. It’s the Tigers versus LSU head coach Ed Orgeron’s alma mater. He’ll probably call off the dogs on his school.. but maybe not. You’ve got to admire Orgeron. He fought his way back to a head coaching position after a disastrous tenure at Ole Miss and he did it by being a successful interim head coach twice, the second time at LSU. LSU took a chance on him and struck gold. He’s a great coach and a wonderful ambassador for the LSU program and the state of Louisiana. The story about him finding out about Texas and no air conditioning is interesting. He’s a networker and was smart enough to call the Louisiana Tech coaches to get the scoop on Texas. The Tech coaches informed him that Texas didn’t have air conditioning in the visitor’s locker room. Imagine spending your halftime in the heart of Texas in a hot locker room. Orgeron had blowers brought with the team to Austin to mitigate that situation. What’s really neat is that he trumpeted Texas’ dirty tactics to the rest of the college football world. From here on every non-Big 12 team that schedules Texas for summer games will likely require in the contract that Texas provide adequate cooling in the visitor’s locker room. Looking at this season’s LSU team, they might be the best team in the country.
