Tennessee Football Three Keys: Chattanooga

Three keys Tennessee

Tennessee faces Chattanooga on Saturday in Knoxville. Here are your three keys to a Tennessee win over Chattanooga.

Key 1 – Start fresh

It’s been a nightmare so far with losses to Georgia State and BYU ripping out the hearts of the Vol Nation. You can’t get those wins back but there are 10 games remaining to be played. Put the first two behind you and give your all in the remaining 10 games starting with Chattanooga.

Key 2 – Stop Ailym Ford

Ailym Ford is a 5-foot-9, 205-pound freshman running back from South Carolina. In two games Ford has had 34 carries for 177 yards and two touchdowns. He’s got a nice combination of size and speed. The Vols need to keep him in check or he might help the Mocs make this a close game.

Key 3 – Win on third down

Through two games Tennessee football has converted on 44.8% of third downs while opponents have converted on 50% of third downs versus the Vols. That disparity may not seem like much but consider that the Vols lost one game in overtime and another by 8 points. Chattanooga is converting on 45% of third downs on offense and limiting opposing offenses to a rate of just 39% conversions. The Vols need to win on third down both offensively and defensively.

Saturday‘s game kicks off at 11:00 AM CT (12:00 PM ET). Watch on the SEC Network.
