Ole Miss Football Three Keys: SE Louisiana

Ole Miss three keys

Ole Miss hosts SE Louisiana on Saturday in Oxford. Here are your three keys to an Ole Miss win over SE Louisiana.

Key 2 – Don’t sleep on the Lions

It may be easy to think that this is just an FCS and the Rebs should glide to an easy win. In the Lion’s opener, they dominated, 35-10, a very strong FCS team in Jacksonville State. Because the Lion’s second game was canceled ( Hurricane Dorian), we don’t have too much to gauge how good SELA is. However, that opening win was pretty good sign that you probably shouldn’t overlook these guys. So far this season two FBS teams have lost to FCS teams. In 2018 seven FBS teams fell to teams from the classification below them.

Key 2 – Protect Matt Corral

Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral played really well last week against Arkansas. The Rebels need for this kid to stay healthy if they are to get back to a bowl game. Yes, he needs to play on Saturday but when the game is in control, take him out and play the backup. Both Kentucky and South Carolina have lost their starting quarterbacks for the season to injury. Ole Miss doesn’t need for Corral to be added to that list.

Key 3 – Shut down Juwan Petit-Frere

Juwan Petit-Frere is a 5-foot-9 senior wide receiver for the Lions. In three seasons he has 52 catches for 855 yards and six touchdowns. He’s carried the ball 27 times for 368 yards and two touchdowns. He’s returned 42 kickoffs for 1,284 yards and two touchdowns. He was hurt most of last season so folks may have forgotten him some. The Land Sharks need to keep someone near this kid at all times.

Saturday‘s game kicks off at 3:00 PM CT (4:00 PM ET). Watch on the SEC Network.
