Challenges for LSU

In one of the top inter-conference games of the day, LSU football takes on the beast from the Big 12, Texas. Both teams started strong in week 1, picking up lopsided wins over undermanned teams from lower-tier conferences. Texas rattled off 38 straight points before Louisiana Tech put together a TD drive. What’s interesting, however, is that Tech actually had over 400 yards of offense in this game but much of that came in the second half when the game when Texas had a big lead. Longhorn QB Sam Ehlinger completed 28-of-38 passes for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns. Texas had nine different receivers catch 3 or more passes. In addition to 301 passing yards, Texas football also had 164 rushing yards, so this isn’t a pass only offense like Mike Leach had at Texas Tech. LSU should win this game. They were far more dominant in the opening cupcake win than Texas’ win over Tech. LSU should have a better defense and the SEC is just better than the Big 12 anyway.

Saturday‘s game kicks off at 6:30 PM CT (7:30 PM ET). Watch on the ABC Network.
