This is another of the top games for Saturday. You’ve got the SEC-AAC rivalry along with a Carolinas showdown. We’ll get a good idea of how good South Carolina during this game. You are probably thinking that North Carolina is not really a strong team because they were 2-9 last season. Consider that the five of the Tar Heels losses were by a touchdown or less. Two more of those losses were by 10 points. Both teams have 7 starters returning on both sides of the ball. The difference in this game will come down to the quarterbacks. UNC is starting a true freshman, Sam Howell while the Gamecocks have veteran quarterback Jake Bentley. This is going to be a pretty darn good South Carolina team but that may not translate into a lot of wins. They have a tough schedule.
Note: The Preseason game score prediction and the in-season prediction are all the same this week because the preseason predictions were only made about a week before the season started. In next week’s predictions, you’ll see some differences between the in-season and preseason predictions because we’ll know a lot more about teams after they have played a game.
