Florida enters year two of Dan Mullen. Mullen hit the ground running in year one leading the Gators to a 10-win season. Florida should be better this season with one-year of experience with the Mullen system. While there are some question marks on offense where the Gators return just five starters, Mullen and company have eight starters back from a pretty good 2018 defensive unit. On offense, the Gators do return veteran QB Feleipe Franks (2,457 yds, 24 TDs) along with the top 3 receivers and the top rusher, Lamical Perine (826 yds), from ’18.
The ‘Canes have five starters back on offense and six on defense. The Hurricane defense, one of the nation’s best last season, lost 3 of 4 starters in the secondary and 2 of 4 on the defensive line. All three starting linebackers return. Offensively, redshirt freshman quarterback Jarren Williams was recently announced as the starter for the Florida game. He’s got 3 of 5 offensive linemen back blocking for him along with 3 returning starting wide receivers.
With Miami having a new head coach along with a young quarterback, this is Florida’s game to win.
