Challenges for Mississippi State
When you talk about Kentucky discussion starts with running back Benny Snell Jr. Snell has 2,799 career rushing yards for 35 touchdowns. Like MSU, UK has a balanced offense that can hurt opponents on the ground or through the air. Defensively, the Wildcats have some veteran talent. Senior safety Mike Edwards has eight career interceptions. Another senior, linebacker Josh Allen has 16 1/2 career sacks.
Challenges for Kentucky
We don’t know much about Mississippi State. MSU is currently ranked No. 9 in the AP but they could eventually move up into the top 5. Consider, though, that they have upcoming matchups with Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama and Auburn. They might actually fall in the polls down the road and still be a very good football team. Player wise, Bulldog QB Nick Fitzgerald has 37 career rushing TDs and 43 passing TDs. Simply put, UK has to be ready for a balanced offense that can hurt you in numerous ways. Defensive end Montez Sweat is one of the top defenders in the nation with 21 career TFLs.
