Challenges for LSU

A couple of years ago, few in the college football spectrum had ever heard of Hendon Hooker. Now he’s being mentioned as a Heisman Trophy candidate and for good reason. So far this season Hooker has been on a tear. He’s completed 81 of 113 passes for 1,193 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s ranked at sixth nationally and first in the SEC in pass efficiency (183.7). Hooker has piled up the yardage with 349 yards and two touchdowns in the Vols most recent win over Florida on September 24. He’s thrown for 325 yards against a solid Pitt team and 298 yards versus Ball State in Tennessee’s opener. Hooker can also run the ball effectively. He has 175 yards rushing for three TDs this season. However, the Tennessee staff limits his rushing attempts to prevent an injury to the very valuable star. Hooker has swagger. He seems to get it done during crunch time like he did at Pittsburgh when he connected with Cedric Tillman in overtime to snare the Vols a huge 34-27 road win.

LSU has to keep Hooker from having a great game or it will be a bad day for the Tigers.

Saturday‘s game kicks off at 11:00 AM CT (12:00 PM ET). Watch this SEC football game on the SEC Network.
