Challenges for Missouri
Missouri faces the defending National Champions on Saturday in Columbia. This Georgia team, especially the defense, will be on a mission to correct the double-digit points that were allowed to Kent State on Saturday. Mizzou’s mission is to continue what Kent State did versus the Bulldogs. A major factor in the Bulldogs’ 2022 defensive success was the return of senior linebacker Nolan Smith, redshirt sophomore defensive back Kelee Ringo, and senior safety Chris Smith, all starters from last season. Christopher Smith, Malaki Starks, Dan Jackson and Trezmen Marshall all have interceptions this season for the Bulldogs. Dan Jackson and Zion Logue each have forced fumbles.
Offensively the Bulldogs are very formidable as well. Veteran quarterback Stetson Bennett is 7th nationally in completion percentage completing over 74 percent of his passes for 1,224 yards and five TDs with one interception. Running back Kendall Milton has 208 rushing yards on the season. Some areas of weakness for the Bulldogs include punt return defense (128th of 131 teams), and fourth down conversion defense (over 60% allowed). Georgia is ranked 115th in sacks made which might indicate a weakness in pressuring opposing quarterbacks. It could be just the type defense Georgia runs which has been very effective prior to the Kent State game.
