Wright's Renegade SEC Picks

Alabama losing to a Texas A&M team that had done nothing in a couple of weeks was crazy. If Kentucky can turn over Georgia then I’m done with this season.

By Steve Wright

Week Results: 6-1. The only miss was Alabama and I am not going to lose much sleep over it.

Closest Pick: Nothing super close this week. The 13 points I was out in the Tennessee/South Carolina pick wins. I thought Auburn would score more, Kentucky would score less, and no one is picking a 103 point SEC game like the nonsense between Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Season Results: 51-13 (79.7%). Last week was 79.0%.

Auburn @ (17) Arkansas – Arkansas will be looking to shake off their crazy defeat last time out against Ole Miss in a game where they gave up over 600 yards of total offense. They will be back way closer to their usual – less than 400 – here against an offense that is not good enough to keep up. Arkansas 31, Auburn 21.
(20) Florida @ LSU – Florida – still well in the conversation for a New Year’s Six game – will be looking to avenge a 53-48 defeat at the hands of the Tigers last year. LSU is 0-3 when allowing more than 115 yards rushing in a game this season, an ominous stat with Florida third in the nation on the ground at 273 yards per game. Florida rolls here. Florida 38, LSU 20.
(21) Texas A&M @ Mizzou – Mizzou can do some things on offense – especially if Tyler Badie is really back after 209 yards last week – and the Aggies will be slow to start here. They might not be as good as they showed in the win over ‘Bama, but Texas A&M should roll (eventually) here. Texas A&M 31, Mizzou 27.
(11) Kentucky @ (1) Georgia – I love Chris Rodriguez Jr. and what Mark Stoops has done in Kentucky but this Georgia team is a different animal. Kentucky can make this interesting with a couple of takeaways – something they aren’t great at – but the Georgia front-seven will prove to be too much. Georgia 31, Kentucky 17.
Vandy @ South Carolina – Vanderbilt will score its first points of the season against an SEC opponent and this one will be close for much longer than South Carolina fans want. South Carolina 24, Vanderbilt 17.
(5) Alabama vs. Mississippi State – The last time Alabama lost back-to-back games in the regular season was back in 2007. Nick Saban doesn’t let that happen and while the Bulldogs will stay in this for a while they get an angry Alabama here. Angry Alabama is scary. Alabama 45, Mississippi State 20.
(13) Ole Miss @ Tennessee – This one should be plenty of fun. Tennessee has found an offense out of nowhere and Matt Corral and the Ole Miss passing attack is as good as expected. Tennessee has the better defense – I’m not sure Ole Miss has one – but the Rebels will get enough out of Corral to sneak over the line. Ole Miss 48, Tennessee 41.
