Tennessee-South Carolina Prediction

The Tennessee Volunteers are the No. 1 team in the polls. They have lost only one game. The South Carolina Gamecocks are barely above .500 for the season, and they are 5-8 in non-conference games after their loss to Oklahoma State – one of the weakest teams in the Big 12 – in this past Saturday’s SEC-Big 12 Challenge. Why, then, does this feel like a game the Vols will lose? Tennessee tempted fate at Vanderbilt but threaded the needle in the last two minutes to force overtime and win in the extra period. The Vols sweated bullets late against Alabama at home. Meanwhile, South Carolina is unbeaten in SEC home games and has won close SEC games throughout January. Tennessee needs to show it can flex its muscles, but that has not happened very often in recent weeks. Upset: South Carolina 75, Tennessee 74. (Matt Zemek)

Game Time: 6:30 ET, 5:30 CT, on SEC Network
