South Carolina-Vanderbilt Prediction

The South Carolina Gamecocks were 5-7 before the start of the SEC season. They are now 8-7 after a 3-0 start to conference play. If the Gamecocks can rack up at least 11 SEC wins, their miserable non-conference season might not prevent them from making the NCAA Tournament. Frank Martin wasn’t going to quit on this season, but the bigger point of emphasis is that his players never gave up. They battled back to win at Florida, forced tons of turnovers to turn back Mississippi State in overtime, and won a postponed game against Missouri this past Sunday to alter the trajectory of their season. They now visit a reeling Vanderbilt team which is winless in the SEC and has not been able to adjust to the loss of Darius Garland. Vanderbilt seems unprepared to do what it must on offense. The Gamecocks should prevail. South Carolina 66, Vanderbilt 61. (Matt Zemek)
