South Carolina-Missouri Prediction

South Carolina, by losing last Saturday at Mississippi State and then again at home versus Alabama, torched what was left of its at-large NCAA Tournament chances. The Gamecocks have simply not won the high-end games they needed to win in order to build their resume and overcome their atrocious non-conference record (5-8). The key now for the Gamecocks is to get the No. 4 seed at the SEC Tournament, which would carry a double-bye and enable Frank Martin’s team to win only three games, not four, in order to win the SEC Tournament and claim an automatic bid into the Big Dance. South Carolina has to handle Missouri if it is going to earn that No. 4 seed. The Gamecocks might have been a bad team in November and December, but they have been solid in January and February. They don’t figure to let down their guard against Mizzou. South Carolina 73, Missouri 66. (Matt Zemek)
