South Carolina-Mississippi State Prediction

Tennessee-LSU is the showcase game on Saturday in the SEC. Auburn-Kentucky could be interesting. Yet, this might be the best game other than Vols-Tigers. South Carolina is doing something remarkable: The Gamecocks are heading for a double-bye into the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament after going 5-8 in non-conference play and losing to Wyoming, Stony Brook, and Oklahoma State, among other teams. The Gamecocks have made an average of more than 12 three-pointers in each of their last four games. They are shooting well above 50 percent on long balls in those four games. They are playing very attractive basketball. They have to win at Mississippi State to give themselves any chance of making the NCAA Tournament. MSU has learned how to defend better, holding its last three opponents under 68 points. This could be a great game… and an upset: South Carolina 72, Mississippi State 70. (Matt Zemek)
