Ole Miss plays at Mississippi State on Saturday in a key SEC basketball matchup. Look inside for a preview of the game along with a final score prediction.
Ole Miss is in the hunt for an NCAA Tournament bid. That’s no joke, and neither is Kermit Davis. It is early in the season, but the Rebels are ahead of schedule. They are no longer – at least not at the moment – a bottom-third team in the SEC. This is therefore a game Mississippi State can’t take for granted. It’s a much tougher test than most likely anticipated when the SEC basketball schedule was first revealed. The stakes are high for Mississippi State after a loss at South Carolina earlier in the week. That’s the kind of game the Bulldogs can’t give away much more often if they want to return to March Madness. The Bulldogs committed way too many turnovers. They also hit just 13 of 23 free throws. Those are huge flaws, but correctable ones. MSU will correct them enough to win. MSU 71, Ole Miss 66. (Matt Zemek)
