Mississippi State-Tennessee Prediction
The Tennessee Volunteers answered the bell. They had to beat Kentucky on Saturday – not necessarily for the SEC championship (though that is important), not necessarily to avoid falling from a No. 2 seed to a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament (though that is important), but to show themselves that they can still beat elite teams. The best Tennessee team this season was the one which defeated Gonzaga in Phoenix in the autumn of 2018. That team had been in evidence for much of January. Then it didn’t emerge very often. The Vols needed to reveal that version of themselves before the NCAA Tournament. They did so against Kentucky. That performance should make it easier for the Vols to push ahead to the finish line against Mississippi State. An emotional Senior Night awaits. It is doubtful that Mississippi State will be able to withstand the Vols’ energy. Tennessee 78, Mississippi State 68. (Matt Zemek)
